The head instructor of Lifestyle Kung Fu is Sifu Bruce Corles.
In 1975 Sifu Bruce Corles began his martial arts training in Karate, Preying Mantis Kung Fu, and then amateur boxing. On moving to Melbourne in 1983 he began training in Wing Chun Kung Fu directly under Grandmaster William Cheung. Throughout the late 80’s Sifu Bruce also trained extensively with personal friend and European Master Didier Bedder. It was during this time the two trained in Tai Chi and various Kung Fu weapons under World Wushu champion and friend Liang Chang Xing. In 1990 he was promoted to instructor level and head instructor of the World Wing Chun Kung Fu Association.
In 1997 Grandmaster Cheung graded Sifu Bruce to masters level saying the he was one of the most gifted martial artists he had taught. Over the last 20 years Sifu Bruce contributed to the martial arts world including many overseas seminars, local and national tournaments and training numerous students to various championships and instructor level. In 2003 LKF under Sifu Bruce’s leadership adopted the government accredited sports coaching program, and in 2006 became affiliated with the Shaolin Temple.
“It is important to realise that it is a lifelong journey”, he says “and that there is no easy way. You train hard to become good. It is that simple.”
It would appear that the extraordinary aspect of martial arts lies in it’s simplicity, and that martial art’s principles are no different to that of everyday life. Indeed, when asked about the mysteries of this fascinating art of self defense, Sifu Burce Corles replies: “The secret is – there is no secret.”
